Hotspot not working metropcs

Hello, so I would like to use my mobile hotspot for my iPad whenever I'm out and about with no WiFi. However, whenever I'm connected to the personal hotspot, I have no connection at all. Is there any reason for this, also I use iPhone X if that helps.
