Hey y'all, Looking to park ~30k (emergency fund + beginnings of saving for a downpayment) in a HYSA. I've heard good things about Ally, but there are a LOT of options for high yield online banking nowadays, some of which are up to almost 5% interest as of this month.

Hysa reddit. Mar 2, 2566 BE ... How do you choose a HYSA? · 2.5-5% APY on your checking AND savings $$ that compounds monthly and is a fixed rate (has not gone down or up ...

None of the above. A MMF at a major brokerage will gets you ~5%. If you want a bit more 3 month t-bills either direct or ETF (i.e. TBIL) will get you 5.2%. That will be state tax free so depending on state tax rate it would be comparable to a HYSA offering 5.4% to 5.7%. McKoijion. • 5 mo. ago. Ally Bank for HYSA.

Thanks! UPDATE: This post looks like it is still getting some traction, I did decide to sign up for Wealthfront since this post and wanted to give my own thoughts and opinions. - Wealthfront is different from other traditional high yield savings account, where Wealthfront does not offer the standard HYSA - instead you are opening a "cash" account. Your savings account is giving you approximately ~$4,000 annually at 4%. Your T-Bills give you approximately ~$5,000 annually at 5%. Dancing around and considering t-bills now or in 3 months or 6 months VS Ibonds VS HYSA is just a ton of thought and consideration to juggle the difference of maybe $80-$120 a month depending on what you're ...I’ve heard around here that Ally is pretty awesome as a “high yield” account. But, I think they just lowered their rate to 1.9%. I was bummed out, but American Express is still offering 2.1%. Not a huge difference, but I would still like to maximize interest. But, since most people here have talked about ally, I wanted to ask before ... CASH Currently paying about 1.75%/YR in FDIC-insured format (HYSA) or 2.25% in ETF format and around 2% in MMF format. Short government bonds SGOV 1.82%. Short term Corporate VCSH 3.95%. Etc. I got lazy. Generally, the farther out into the future you go, the more yield you can get (and more risk, go figure!). Which banks do you trust and have a HYSA with? Thank you. CIT 5.05% (minimum of $5000) or Redneck Bank 5.05% (no minimum but limited to 100k). Also consider Raisin, it’s a custodian intermediary that lets you easily move between multiple banks (still FDIC insured). They currently have two banks with 5.25%.I would compare ibonds to a 6 month CD, as the rate of the ibonds is guaranteed 6 months. If rates drop, you only get 5% for 3 months. Still 5% is a good bit better than 4.3% and would probably average out unless the CD rates drop a lot from months 4-6. Also just happens that a Fidelity 6 mo CD is the same rate though. The Alto site is 100% legit. I spoke to BMO agents who confirmed. It's a wholly separate site from BMO by design, on different banking platforms, which allows BMO to provide really good interest rates. Rates are now 4.5%, which are among the best I've seen in the market.

But yes, the 7 day SEC Yield is pretty much directly comparable to a bank/CU's published APY. Consider SPRXX for even more slightly (again pretty much insignificant) risk and yield.Either is a fine choice. But in most cases, there is relatively little benefit to the money market over a HYSA.
